Cassandra has been our son’s cello teacher since he started in Year 2. My husband and I do not have a musical bone in our bodies, so you can imagine our amazement as we watched his interest and skill progress so quickly under Cassandra’s tutelage. This year, our son was appointed lead cellist in his ensemble and is currently preparing for yet another AMEB exam.
Our son has had some ups and down at school, and I can honestly say that at times, Cassandra was the one to keep him going. He adores her. Cassandra is gentle, but firm. She commands respect and expects the best from her students. Her teaching style not only builds the children’s skills, but also their confidence and self-esteem.
Although I am not a musician myself, it is easy to see our son plays with passion and skill for someone who has been learning for such a short period of time. Our boy does work hard for his progress and I truly believe it’s his connection and respect for Cassandra that promotes his commitment.
